OKRA ENERGY

Specialists in affordable LNG supply + technology.

ENERGY SECURITY

Okra Energy liquefies natural gas when and where it’s needed most,

supporting a “virtual pipeline” that delivers clean, affordable LNG

to consumers outside traditional utility service areas:

Areas without pipeline infrastructure

“Stranded” customers: mines, power generators, manufacturers, isolated wells

Mobile projects and applications

Projects requiring recovery and valorisation of venting gas

WHAT IS LNG?

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is the transportable storage form of natural gas (methane) that has been chilled to -161ºC so that it becomes a liquid, taking up much less space. After supercooling, the liquefied natural gas is 1/600th the volume of natural gas, making it easy to transport.  It is odorless, non-toxic, non-corrosive and less dense than water.

Stages of LNG production

Purification & Dehydration

Gas extracted from the ground contains impurities, such as water, mercury and CO2. Before the gas is liquefied, these molecules are removed and the gas is dehydrated.

Refrigeration & Liquefaction

Then, the gas is transferred to heat exchangers, which cools the gas to -161ºC, shrinking its volume by 600 times, allowing for more efficient transport.  This process also liquefies the gas into a clear, colorless, and non-toxic liquid.

Storage, Transportation & Marketing

When the liquified natural gas (LNG) reaches its destination, it is regasified, and ready to provide energy to industry, institutions, power grids, even homes.

SMALL-SCALE LNG

Affordable energy for the world.

Small-scale liquefaction plants enable “stranded” consumers —those without geographic, logistical or financial access to natural gas pipelines— to avail themselves of the benefits of clean-burning, efficient and affordable natural gas, quickly, independently and without massive capital investments. Small-scale LNG represents a modern, decentralized, distributed and affordable energy solution for developing markets.

Our competitive advantage lies in the fact that our direct sources of natural gas coupled with our low-overhead business model ensure a low-cost, reliable and uninterrupted supply of high-quality LNG, thereby offering power generators, businesses, industries and municipalities the highest-efficiency fuel on the market, at a significant reduction in costs over diesel or compressed natural gas (CNG).

ENERGY VIA VIRTUAL PIPELINE

Because LNG occupies about 1/600 the space of methane in its gaseous form, it can be transported in large quantities in high-capacity tanker trucks as well as ISO (intermodal) containers, enabling the convenient and affordable delivery of energy to factories, power grids and industries.  Here's how.
