TABLAZO COLÁN, Peru — Pure LNG S.A.C., the Peruvian operating company of the Okra Energy group, has moved its small-scale liquefaction plant at Tablazo Colán, in the Piura region, from commissioning into production.
The plant has a nameplate capacity of 30,000 gallons of LNG per day across two liquefaction trains. It is designed to the NFPA 59A standard and runs on pipeline-quality natural gas supplied under a 10-year agreement, with a 3.2 MW on-site genset and a grid connection for power.
LNG from Colán travels by truck in cryogenic ISO containers, a virtual pipeline, to industrial customers beyond the reach of the gas network, most of them in Ecuador, where it replaces diesel as a cleaner, lower-cost fuel.
“Colán proves the model: we liquefy gas where it is available and deliver it where pipelines don’t go,” said Louis Ravenet, Chief Executive Officer of Pure LNG. “Our next step is to fill both trains with long-term customers in Ecuador, our main market, and across the region.”
###TABLAZO COLÁN, Peru — Pure LNG S.A.C. has started a 30-day commissioning program at its small-scale liquefaction plant at Tablazo Colán, Piura.
Commissioning brings the plant’s two liquefaction trains, LNG storage and support systems into service in sequence ahead of commercial production. The plant is designed to produce 30,000 gallons of LNG per day and is built to the NFPA 59A standard.
###TABLAZO COLÁN, Peru — Natural gas has reached Pure LNG’s liquefaction plant at Tablazo Colán for the first time, delivered under the commissioning supply plan.
First gas allows the plant’s pre-treatment and liquefaction systems to be tested with process gas, a key step toward first LNG. The plant is supplied under a 10-year gas supply agreement.
###TABLAZO COLÁN, Peru — Okra Energy, LLC has loaded the first truck of LNG at its small-scale liquefaction plant at Tablazo Colán, Piura: 60 cubic meters, the first small-scale LNG produced in Peru.
The modular plant was built and tested in the United States, shipped to Peru and installed at Colán in 2018. Osinergmin, Peru’s energy regulator, inspected the plant in October with no observations.

Current as of September 2026.
Okra Energy, LLC built Peru’s first small-scale LNG plant at Colán in 2018. Pure LNG has brought production back to the same site.
Okra Energy, LLC starts building a small-scale LNG plant at Tablazo Colán. Foundations go in and the LNG storage tanks are lifted into place.

Okra Energy begins site work for a small-scale LNG plant at McIntosh: an access road for heavy equipment in 2017, then the plant site is graded in 2020.

The Colán liquefaction modules and cold boxes are built at Okra’s assembly plant in the United States. The first cold test reaches −253 °F (−158 °C).

The modules ship to Peru and are installed at Colán.

After an Osinergmin inspection with no observations, the first truck leaves Colán with 60 m³ of LNG.

The pandemic and the disruption that followed shut the original plant. It is dismantled and relocated.
Okra Energy assembles the liquefaction plant for McIntosh at a facility in South Carolina.

Okra decides to restart at Colán, and Pure LNG is formed.
Pure LNG’s new liquefaction unit arrives, gas flows in September and Colán is producing LNG again.

Okra Energy builds and operates small-scale LNG plants and the virtual pipeline behind them, bringing natural gas to industry and communities beyond the reach of pipelines. Its goal is a smarter, higher-performance LNG world. Through its group companies (Pure LNG in Peru, Okra Energy Alabama in the United States and LNG Direct in Ecuador, Guatemala and Canada) it supplies LNG, regasification and storage, ISO container logistics and power generation across the Americas, and develops power-ready sites for AI data centers. Its founders have sold technology to companies including Microsoft, Google and Tumblr. More at okraenergy.com.
Pure LNG S.A.C. produces LNG at Tablazo Colán in Piura, the site where Okra Energy, LLC built Peru’s first small-scale LNG plant in 2018. Its two-train plant has a nameplate capacity of 30,000 gallons of LNG per day and delivers LNG by ISO container to industrial customers beyond the gas network, mainly in Ecuador. Pure LNG designs, engineers and builds small-scale LNG plants as the EPC contractor, then operates them or sells or leases them to customers, and manages the plants it runs with Ask Alex, an AI operational intelligence system. Pure LNG is part of the Okra Energy group.
Louis Ravenet leads Pure LNG, which has brought LNG production back to Colán, the site of Peru’s first small-scale LNG plant. He develops and operates LNG and energy infrastructure across South and Central America, from liquefaction and virtual-pipeline logistics to gas-fired power.
